Watford have confirmed Dagenham and Redbridge goalkeeper Chris Lewington is on trial with the club.

The 25-year-old is with the rest of the squad at their training camp in Udine.

The Golden Boys' third choice goalkeeper Gary Woods is out of contract next week and is likely to leave the club, although the Hornets haven't ruled out re-signing the former Manchester United man.

Lewington played for several non league clubs before joining League Two side Dagenham and Redbridge in 2009.

He played 45 times last season and made 143 appearances for the club in total.

Still not sure if Bondy is going to make it at this level, but I sincerely hope so. This acquisition/ trial therefore seems sensible. Something for the future.

I thought the opposite. Don't think this guy would be coming in as the number two.

You've lost the plot.

Do you forget the lads 21? Do you forget he has had a few MoM performances in his time? Do you forget he is an established England U21 keeper?

As soon as he gets a run in the side or plays regular first team football he will be a fantastic keeper. Coming into the team at random times for a keeper cannot be easy. When he had a run in the team last season he superb.

But yeah go on Bond leave. Go play for a club where you are appreciated.

Fair point but also look at Hart, Butland etc. If we ruin his confidence now he will end up being another Loach. I can't believe the stick he gets. People should be encouraging a young talent not trying to ruin it.
