Watford announced that "following a restructuring of the coaching staff", Nigel Gibbs would be leaving Vicarage Road.
Gibbs had been at the club since signing schoolboy terms in 1981; he made his debut in 1983 and spent 19 years in the first team before moving onto the coaching staff, first as reserve team manager and then as Ray Lewington's assistant.
His dismissal by newly appointed Aidy Boothroyd caused considerable consternation amongst supporters.
