Watford's players reported back for pre-season training, for the first time taking advantage of the facilities at the club's new London Colney training ground.

Watford had inherited the facility from Arsenal, who had moved into the adjacent complex.

While I found this story profoundly gripping, there is no mention of what was eaten on that momentous day, nor who won the table tennis. Surely we should be told.

Truly this has got to be the greatest day in the life of Watford FC. The thrill of moving to a new slab of grass, the different views, the smell of the cow pats, the proximity to the nearest supermarket, who was top of the charts on this day, what number bus did I catch, was the oyster card around then, did Mellow Yellow undergo a name change from Fellow Mellow to Fellow Yellow to Mellow Yellow.

The world awaits Wobbo. Let's be having ya

Anybody know where they trained before that?
I can remember them using Dickinson's Sports Ground in Croxley back in the 50's and 60's - we used to watch them train during our school holidays. No gym there though, just running, exercises and playing!

I recall days in mid 70s they trained in Cassiobury Park. Whilst walking by I was invited to make the numbers up in a kick about with Tom Walley, Andy Rankin and others. Another training ground WFC used was in Honeypot Lane, I recall picking up the newly signed John McLelland from Hilton hotel to train there. This training ground figured in the classic 1984 Greavsie "Eve of the Final" show in which G.T. subbed Jimmy for Mo Johnston in a practice match.
