Watford Supporters' Club resigned from their national federation.

In a letter, reproduced in the Watford Observer, representative W.E.Govan protested at the lack of discussion at a recent meeting of the previously mooted award of a shield to the supporters club with the highest membership.

He went on to assert that: "We are of the same opinion as our friends from the north; that the business of the federation should be run on a more broad-minded basis."

HC - that would be how it was back then and just as exciting. A colleague told me his dad was chairman of Walsall and came home one day with his picture under his arm. His wife said "Have they booted you out then? Never mind your tea is ready"

Not a lot going on.
