Hornets defender Essaid Belkalem is set to join Turkish side Trabzonspor on a one-year loan, the Watford Observer understands.

Belkalem was given extra time off due to his participation in the World Cup but he has not rejoined the Golden Boys squad this summer.

Head coach Beppe Sannino stated questions relating to his players’ futures need to be directed towards the club but did confirm this evening that Belkalem has not been training with Watford.

And we understand the 25-year-old’s Algeria manager at this summer’s World Cup, Vahid Halilhodzic, has agreed a one-year loan to take the centre back to his new club Trabzonspor.

The Hornets activated the option to make Belkalem’s loan move from Granada permanent early this year.

Hopefully the Pozzos might have another decent piece of business on their hands, his value, whatever it is will have been maximised by his World Cup performances.

Can't trap a bag of cement, has no idea what position to take up and seems to take pride in conceding penalties.
I don't know what the loan fee is, but what ever we are paying Trabzonspor to take him, its worth it

I admit I haven't seem Tamas play, but I know a few people who have seen him in a couple of the friendlies---includi
ng today---and they tell me that, indeed, he looks quality.
As for Belkalem, with the recent influx of new players, I was wondering how he would get a game. Now know he won't. Hope he does well and comes back a better player.

Come on now you moaning minnies, we had Belkalem who is a world cup player and you want rid of him, and Paredes who is a world cup player and you think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Stop being so fickle and sort yourselves out. We had 2 world cup players for a while yet you still whinge.

Trying to remember the last time we had a World Cup player who, due to the amount of players we have who play in the same position, we could afford to send out on loan.

You obviously didn't watch him at the World Cup then. I wonder how you would get on working in Algeria?

We would not let him go on loan if the club thought he was a vital player for us, WC credentials or not he is going for a year and cannot see him returning as a Premiership player with us next year as we will obviously be looking for a higher calibre player then.

yeah i watched him in the World Cup, also watched him needlessly give away a pen against Charlton, continuously lose possession in dangerous areas against Derby etc etc.

I don't suppose I would get very well working in Algeria thanks, although god knows what that's got to do with anything

yeah, hoorayyyyyy, Tamas has looked good against Semi-pro competition in pre-season... Real start...

He was awful for Doncaster last year, red card waiting to happen everytime he's on the pitch.
