Fernando Forestieri is expected to resume light training tomorrow following his Achilles injury while Sean Murray should rejoin full training after overcoming an ankle problem.

Forestieri suffered a cut to his Achilles during the 2-2 pre-season friendly against Shrewsbury Town eight days ago.

He was stretchered off during the second half of that game but fears it was a serious injury were quickly eased.

Head of medical Marco Cesarini said after Watford's 5-0 win at St Albans City: “On Monday Forestieri should resume light training sessions. We are happy with the situation and the doctor today (Saturday) removed the stitches on his Achilles.”

Murray’s ankle injury occurred during the Hornets’ friendly against Chemnitzer FC in Austria on Sunday, July 13.

But Cesarini also confirmed the Academy graduate is anticipated to train with the Golden Boys' first-team tomorrow.

One player who remains sidelined however is Craig Cathcart. The centre-back, who joined Watford this summer from Blackpool, picked up a knee problem in the Shrewsbury Town match.

On Saturday, Cesarini said: “Craig Cathcart will still be unavailable for two weeks minimum. We will then assess how he is at that point.”
