Sean Dyche has confirmed Burnley are no longer trying to sign Troy Deeney due to Watford’s valuation of the player.
We understand Burnley had a bid worth an initial fee £4.5m plus add-ons rejected by the Hornets at the start of July.
Last week some news outlets linked the Clarets with another £8m offer for Deeney, who excelled under Dyche during the manager’s time at Watford.

He added: “He is among many players that we admire but we have a certain brief from the club that we have to work to and it is important that the club have a base to work from financially. We can’t entertain £8m players I can assure you of that.”
One club still in the running for Deeney’s services are Queens Park Rangers, whose manager Harry Redknapp claimed talks have taken place with Watford over a potential move. Read more here.
