Udinese forward Odion Ighalo says he will travel to Watford on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of a proposed loan move to Vicarage Road.

The 25-year-old Nigerian, who has spent the past five seasons on loan at fellow Pozzo-owned club Granada, revealed last week he was in “final negotiations” with the Hornets over a switch to WD18.

Speaking to africanfootball.com, Ighalo said: "Everything is in order; I will leave for Watford on Tuesday for [a] medical and other necessary things as regards the deal.

"I won't have a problem of work permit because I hold an Italian passport," he added.

Born in the Nigerian city of Lagos, the 6ft 2in forward began his career in his homeland with Prime before joining Julius Berger.

A switch to Norwegian side Lyn followed in 2007 and after nine goals in 20 outings across two seasons, Ighalo moved to Italy to join Udinese.

Used sparingly at Udinese in his first season, Ighalo joined Granada on loan for the 2009/10 campaign and netted 17 times to help the Andaluscian side to promotion.

Returning the following year, the former Nigerian Under-20 cap scored five times as Granada completed back-to-back promotions to reach La Liga.

A brief stint with Serie A outfit Cesena in 2010 proved unsuccessful and Ighalo returned to Los Carmenes to score 12 league goals in his next three seasons as Granada retained their top-flight status.

Squad/impact player. Stats don't suggest he's a goalscorer except when he was in the 3rd tier of Spanish football with Granada.

I think Ighalo could do well at Watford based on the footage that I've seen of him. While I know youtube videos can be misleading, he seems to be strong and quick; at least one of these attributes is required to be a good striker at this level.

I'm resigned to losing Deeney and whilst I am gutted on the one hand, he is not worth the amount of money that is being reported so he goes with my blessing and I hope that Ighalo will fill some of the void left behind.

It wasn't that many years ago, I used to think that supporting Watford was boring, as nothing ever seemed to happen, except on the pitch of course. Now we seem to get 3 or 4 stories a day. Great stuff, lots to talk about.

However, when we had Danny Graham and Marvin Sordell here, stats did not say Troy Deeney was a goalscorer. Stats mean b all really.

No but when the player tells fans at the friendly on Saturday that's he 100% staying and then jokes about where he was meant to be going on his twitter account, you can't help thinking anything else

Fact is none of us know what is happening with Troy. Is he staying ? Is he going? According to a fan Troy spoke to on Saturday - No. Then again Troy would say that wouldn't he, he is hardly going to say the opposite.

I suppose if he goes, 50% on here will tell you 'I told you so', if he stays the other 50% will say the same thing.

Truth is we don't know - and the suspense is...... raising my blood pressure.

I think Ighalo adds another option combining pace with strength. We will have four attacking players - Anya, Dyer, Vydra, Ighalo with pace to burn plus the lad from Ecuador, Paredes. If all five play should frighten defences to death.

Other than Anya out right pace was a problem for us last season playing on the break, which has been our main attacking strength since the Pozzo takeover.

In fairness championship football may well suit him better than spain...a powerful forward who has 2 good feet and is good in the air...plus in england as we tend to play a more attacking style we also present more chances to score for strikers. I remember in the book tales from the vicarage 2 blissett was complaining in italy he didn't get many chances.

one concern I have apart from keeping a large squad happy is how much are we spending on wages? Fingers crossed udinese and granada are helping us out and ok we will let some fringe players go but players like toszer, dyer, andrews etc must be on pretty high wages?!

Anyone noticed in the footage of this guy that whenever he scores he always pushes away his team mates whilst celebrating, it's all about him!!!

Sometimes a good thing for a striker to be all about him, think I like what I see, he just needs to step up the goals per game ratio.

Can't wait COYH
