Javier Acuna is returning to his native Paraguay after rejoining his first club on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old has left Watford to join Club Olimpia Asuncion for an undisclosed fee.

Acuna moved to Vicarage Road on a three-year deal last summer having joined Udinese after his contract at Real Madrid expired.

Despite high expectations given his background, the striker made just six starts and a further six substitute appearances for the Hornets in all competitions, scoring his only goal in the Capital One Cup defeat against Norwich City.

Acuna subsequently left Vicarage Road in January to join Spanish outfit Osasuna on loan and he remained there until the end of last season.
