He has a wealth of attacking options to choose from this season and, while Beppe Sannino accepts Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra have a strong partnership, the Watford head coach says all his strikers will be needed throughout the campaign.

Deeney and Vydra started in Saturday’s Championship opener against Bolton Wanderers and both were on the scoresheet during the 3-0 win.

Fernando Forestieri also struck in Saturday’s victory before starting against Stevenage in Tuesday’s Capital One Cup success at Stevenage. Odion Ighalo and Diego Fabbrini also featured for the Hornets at Broadhall Way while Mathias Ranegie was injured.

Deeney and Vydra forged a clinical partnership during the 2012/2013 campaign. Vydra ended that campaign with 22 goals while Deeney found the net 20 times.

Both will be important to Watford’s anticipated promotion challenge this season but Sannino is focusing on all his striking options.

He said: “Vydra is a player that the supporters know from the past but I would like to think that the past is finished. We need to think about the future, which is important, not the past.

“Vydra and Deeney is a strong partnership which can work together but I don’t forget the other players.

“I am very happy because I have Troy Deeney, Matej Vydra, Odion Ighalo, Mathias Ranegie, Fernando Forestieri and Diego Fabbrini. For me we need them all for the season.”
