Hornets striker Troy Deeney is not currently considering handing in a transfer request despite reports to the contrary, the Watford Observer understands.

Sky Sports reported on Saturday night that the 26-year-old was growing increasingly frustrated with the Golden Boys blocking a potential move to the Premier League and “he might be forced to hand in a transfer request”.

However, a source close to the player has today denied Deeney is currently considering handing in a transfer request in order to force through a move.

The source also denied Sky Sports’ claim that Deeney is upset with Watford technical director Gianluca Nani over an alleged agreement made last year to sell the striker this summer if the Hornets received a reasonable offer.

Sky Sports’ article claimed Leicester City had not made a third bid for Deeney after we reported on Saturday morning Watford had turned down an offer of £10m, which could have risen to £12m with add-ons, from the Foxes.

Like all players, Deeney wants to play in the Premier League but it has been said he has not let the rejected bids affect his behaviour around the training ground.

At the weekend we reported Watford will not sell Deeney this summer, unless they received an absurd offer for the striker.

Watford have rejected three bids from Leicester City for Deeney and offers Burnley, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City.

Norwich City and Everton have also expressed an interest.
