The Golden Boys’ players have been enduring temperatures of minus 135°C in an attempt to improve their physical preparation for matches throughout the Championship season.
The Hornets defeated Rotherham United on Tuesday night but there was no lie in as the squad travelled to the Sopwell House Hotel the following morning to undergo extreme-cold cryotherapy.
Cryotherapy, which is seen as a better alternative to ice baths, sees players exposed to short bursts of minus 135°C which is aimed at speeding up recovery times in addition to getting players back in training ahead of schedule after matches.
Watford have incorporated the three-minute treatment into their training regime and will continue to use the chamber in the coming months.
The Cryotherapy sessions are part of a new partnership between the club and BOC, a leading industrial and medical gases and technologies business.
