Watford have confirmed they do plan to have a part opening of the new East Stand at Vicarage Road for next weekend’s game with Bournemouth but on “a test basis”.

If the Hornets are able to open a section of the new structure, pictured on Saturday, September 20 as planned then they will be contacting supporters directly about moving for the match.

The Golden Boys refused to discuss specifics, such as how many seats may be available, if kiosks will be open and when fans could contact the ticket office about being moved.

But a Watford spokesman yesterday afternoon confirmed: “Everyone at the club is working hard towards the stated aim of having a partial opening, on a test basis, of the Watford FC Community Stand at next weekend’s Bournemouth home match.

“Where it is appropriate to communicate about specific arrangements, the club will do so directly with supporters as soon as it is practical to do so.”

The club refused to comment on whether they remain hopeful of a full opening for the Brighton & Hove Albion game on October 4, as reported previously by the Watford Observer.

And the Hornets were also unable to confirm when season ticket holders could transfer permanently to the new East Stand, which will be called the Watford FC Community Stand.

Steelwork for the section next to the Rookery End started to be installed this week and the design of the structure means it takes less time to complete than traditional grounds.
