Watford defeated Darlington 2-1 at Vicarage Road, the ninth win of an imposing opening 12 games of the season.
Luther Blissett and a Sam Ellis penalty provided the goals.
The game also saw the 37-minute Watford career of Bobby Svarc, the only player signed on loan during Graham Taylor's first spell as manager.
The Blackburn Rovers striker's career was ended by the injury that necessitated his early replacement by Peter Coffill.
