The full opening for the new East Stand at Vicarage Road is unlikely to take place until the end of November at the earliest, the Watford Observer understands.

The Watford FC Community Stand, as it has been named by the Hornets, was partially opened for the first time against Brighton & Hove Albion on October 4.

The whole structure was expected to be completed in time for the Millwall match on November 1, but further delays to building work has pushed the full opening back further.

We have been told the whole stand should be open before Christmas but the club are reluctant to name a specific match.

The Hornets have home games on November 22 (Derby County), November 29 (Cardiff City), December 13 (Wigan Athletic) and the Boxing Day clash is against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Around 350 supporters sat in the new structure for the Brighton game ten days ago and a similar number is expected for next Tuesday's table-topping fixture with Nottingham Forest.

The number of supporters in the stand is likely to increase significantly for the Millwall game but the structure will not be completed in time for that match, as hoped.

Watford say they have been in dialogue with the East Stand 'promise holders', who were the first group of people to be given a chance to sit in the new structure.

The 'promise holders' are the fans who were relocated from the old structure and were given assurances they would have first option to move into the new stand once it was built.

The majority of the stand, between the Vicarage Road end and the old players’ tunnel, is almost complete but GL Events are still building the section close to the Rookery End.
