An 80th minute goal from Michael Folivi helped Watford Under-18s secure a 1-1 draw against Northampton Town Under-18s in the Youth Alliance South East Division.
Cobblers’ striker Ryan Marsden's first half goal broke the deadlock in Saturday’s contest and that looked like being enough to seal victory for the majority of the game.
However, striker Folivi continued his excellent form this season and his late strike earned the young Hornets a share of the points.
Interim Under-18s coach, and head of coaching, Barry Quin admitted his side were not at their best in the opening half but was pleased with the Golden Boys’ improvement in the second period.
“The second half was a totally different game. We dominated and created chances, we just needed to take them,” he told the club’s website.
“We were persistent, kept going and got the goal. We could have won it in the end too but overall we’re pleased.”
Watford: Gartside; Eleftheriou (Cook, 75), Young, Rowan, Martin; Stewart, Makaka (Choi, 83), Lewis; Folivi, Obi, Otudeko.
