Lewis McGugan, who is on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Watford, has returned to light training following the head injury he suffered at the weekend.
The midfielder was knocked out and stretchered off in a neck brace after a collision with former Hornet Lee Williamson during Wednesday’s 2-1 win against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Owls boss Stuart Gray said yesterday that McGugan was back in training and could be in contention to feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
He told the Sheffield Star: “Lewis has done some light training so hopefully he will have no reaction to that. He’s just got a stiff neck because he was knocked out.
“Fingers crossed, Lewis will be okay for Saturday.”
Gray also confirmed the club want to extend McGugan’s loan at Hillsborough beyond January 1. He has started the club's last three matches.
