Barnet head coach Martin Allen has confirmed his intention to extend the loan deal of Watford's Bernard Mensah when it expires at the beginning of January.

The Hornets striker is currently on loan at The Hive until January 5 and has scored twice in eight outings for the Bees since joining at the beginning of November.

However Allen has expressed his desire to tie Mensah and fellow loanee David Hunt to new deals with the Bees ahead of the January transfer window, which opens in 48 hours’ time.

Asked after Sunday’s 2-2 draw at home to Dover Athletic if he would like to retain the pair in the new year, Allen replied: "Yes, we want to keep both of them."

Mensah, who impressed on loan at Braintree Town last season, has made one start and seven substitute outings for the Bees, who are seven points clear atop the Conference.
