Lloyd Dyer can leave Watford if the club receive a suitable offer for the winger, Hornets boss Slavisa Jokanovic has confirmed.

The Golden Boys head coach said this afternoon the 32-year-old does not currently feature in his first-team plans.

Dyer joined the Hornets from Leicester City in the summer and signed a three-year deal at Vicarage Road. He rejected a one-year contract offer from the Foxes, who had won promotion to the Premier League.

However, he has struggled to break into the Watford first team this season and his last appearance for the Hornets came against Reading on December 20. His last start was against Derby County on November 22.

Jokanovic was asked by the Watford Observer this afternoon if Dyer’s future lay away from Vicarage Road. He replied: “I have spoken with Dyer and he is very close to making a decision. He explained he wanted to change his situation and the only way he sees that is to change his club.

“So we will find a solution for him, whether that is a loan or a transfer.

“He is a professional player and he is working very well but in my plan I prefer other people.

“I have offered him the opportunity to still work for his chance but he is not happy with this plan and he would prefer to change his team.”

Another Hornets player who could depart during the current transfer window is Lewis McGugan.

The 26-year-old midfielder returned to Watford following a short-term loan deal at Sheffield Wednesday on New Year’s Day and the Owls are interested in bringing him back to Hillsborough.

We have previously reported that the Golden Boys will consider any bids for the former Nottingham Forest midfielder this month and Jokanovic said: “At the moment he (McGugan) is not in my plans.

“We are going to try and find the best solution for him and for us. If you are asking about the next game, McGugan is not in my plans. We will see what happens in the transfer window.”
