Leeds succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of ever-improving Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek, ending a run of three consecutive wins in home and away fixtures.

Goals from Sam Baldock and Iñigo Calderón either side of half time were enough to claim the win for the hosts at The AmEx Stadium, with the result seeing Leeds drop to 14th position in the table after 33 games.

Despite the loss to The Seagulls, Leeds have won five of their nine games of 2015; drawing twice and losing the other when Brentford visited Elland Road earlier this month.

During the run, ex-Hornet Neil Readfearn’s men have taken some impressive scalps, including 1-0 victories over Bournemouth  and Middlesbrough; a result which ended Boro’s run of 12 home league games without defeat.

Interestingly, Leeds secured wins over both teams earlier in the season too; a feat they have also managed against Huddersfield Town. Their record against the other sides in the top six stands at one win, one draw and three losses.

Leeds have managed to accumulate 25 of their 41 points in front of a home crowd at Elland Road this season, in the form of seven wins and four draws from 16 games. Their last home match saw them run out 1-0 winners against struggling Millwall, with Alex Mowatt netting from a superb free kick.

Mowatt, who also scored the only goal against Middlesbrough, has increased his league scoring tally to six – only Mirco Antenucci has managed more in the Championship this season (eight).

Despite the best efforts of Mowatt and Antenucci however, the club have managed just 17 home goals this season; only Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool and Wigan Athletic have scored fewer.

Watford ran out rampant winners at Vicarage Road earlier in the season, with a brace from Fernando Forestieri in a 4-1 victory. Troy Deeney and Dániel Tőzsér grabbed the other goals in a result that saw Leeds reduced to nine men; with straight red cards issued to defenders Giuseppe Bellusci and Sam Byram.

Leeds have not beaten Watford at Elland Road in their last four attempts; losing twice and conceding 13 goals in those matches.

Leeds United starting XI vs Brighton and Hove Albion (24/2/15): Silvestri; Wooton, Bamba, Cooper, Taylor; Murphy, Cook, Sloth, Austin, Mowatt; Morrison.
