The new short plays are written by local writers and will be performed by professional actors at The Cloisters pub and restaurant, Catherine Street on Saturday, 9 May.

There will be two performances, starting at 6pm and 8pm, of the six selected ‘Short Cuts’ new short plays designed to make the audience gasp, laugh and cry.

The programme comprises of ‘Killjoy’ by Lesley Bates; ‘Fireworks’ by Lucy Bell; ‘Meat’ by Joe Ledbury; ‘The Slipper Salesman’ by Linda Morse; ‘You Can Hide the Earth with Your Hand’ by Jon Nash; and ‘Mortal Coils’ by Pete Talman.

Julian Demetriadi, Chairman of the Salisbury Fringe, said: “We were inundated with new plays for consideration for the 2015 Fringe Preview evening and the high standard of writing made it extremely difficult for our experienced selection panel to make the final choice of six.

"The chosen plays make for the best free, not to be missed entertainment in Salisbury and we look forward very much to welcoming new and existing theatre-goers on 9 May.

“The beauty of putting on short plays in an informal setting – covering everything from comedy to tragedy all in one evening – is that there’s something for everybody to enjoy, whilst relaxing with a good drink and experiencing enthralling, quality theatre.

"We are fortunate to be supported by a first-rate team of professional actors and a highly talented artistic director in Andrew Thackeray.”
