Slavisa Jokanovic couldn’t explain his feelings after guiding Watford into the Premier League but did describe clinching promotion as an incredible achievement.

The Hornets’ victory at Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon, coupled with Middlesbrough’s loss at Fulham and Norwich City’s draw to Rotherham United, meant they would be competing in the top flight next season.

“It is a crazy Championship competition and many things happen in the last five minutes, like today,” Jokanovic told Sky Sports.

“It is incredible. We are very happy but I don’t know how to explain it to you. I am a bit surprised and I don’t know what we will do now or the future.

“I am happy for my players, for my staff, for the people who work in the kitchen and for our supporters.”

Watford were returning from the south coast to their London Colney training ground when promotion was confirmed and there were wild scenes of celebration on the team coach.

While a top two finish is confirmed the Hornets may still have to win next weekend against Sheffield Wednesday in order to lift the title.

And Jokanovic hopes his players will focus on ending the season with victory at Vicarage Road next Saturday.

He added: “Now we must try and be top. In front of us is one week more and we must try and concentrate and win one more game in front of our supporters.”
