Adlene Guedioura will not be allowed to play in Watford’s title-deciding match this weekend but will be doing everything he can to be there as a fan – and if Crystal Palace refuse to give him permission, stated his "heart and head" will still be at Vicarage Road.

The Algerian has been a crucial part of the Hornets’ promotion campaign but has now reached the 93-day limit for emergency loan players so will not be able to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Guedioura has returned to his parent club this week and will be asking Palace manager Alan Pardew if he can attend Watford’s game – which will decide if they win the Championship.

Speaking immediately after the Brighton game, when it was still unclear if promotion had been secured, the 29-year-old said: "Hopefully we are going to enjoy the party after the Sheffield Wednesday game. Even if I am not there my heart and head will be there of course."

He continued: "I hope I will be there because it would be something amazing. I don’t think Watford have ever been champion of this league so it would be good to be champion and promoted because the Premier League would be huge for everyone at Watford."

Palace are playing Chelsea on Sunday so if Pardew wants Guedioura to be part of his squad, there is a good chance he may tell the Algeria international he can’t attend Watford’s match the day before.

If that was to happen, Guedioura said: "I would try to follow events on TV but I want to be able to run on the pitch. I want to be there running on to the pitch with the lads."

Guedioura had yet to discuss his future with Pardew when he addressed the media at the AmEx Stadium but was hoping to secure some game time with the Eagles in their final four matches.

Watford are believed to be keen to sign the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man and when asked if he would be interested in a permanent switch to Vicarage Road, he replied: "Yes probably but I don’t know what is going to happen and I don’t know what the [Palace] manager is going to say. So I can’t say anything even if I want to. The transfer window is coming and I don’t know what will happen. I enjoyed my time at Watford."

Guedioura has proven this season, and before at his previous clubs, that he is a class act at Championship level and makes no secret of his desire to return to the top flight.

"Every player wants to play in the Premier League. I have played there and I want to play there again. That is the most important thing," he said.

"I have shown some good things there and I want to show some more there. I am still young and I have time to show what I can do at that level."

Guedioura enjoyed his two loan spells playing under Slavisa Jokanovic and praised the Serbian's tactical nous - which he showed once again at Brighton as, for the second game running, the head coach made an early change of formation and substitution which resulted in a crucial goal almost immediately.

Guedioura said: "He did well and he pushed us on the right path and this is what we had to follow and we had to do our thing on the pitch; following his plan.

"He was great for us and it is good to have a manager with this kind of experience."
