Adlene Guedioura has thanked Crystal Palace's chairman and manager for allowing him to take part in Watford's promotion celebrations.

The likeable Algerian was unable to play in Watford's final fixture against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday after reaching the 93-day limit for emergency loan players.

But Guedioura was desperate to be with his Hornets team-mates during the final weekend of the season, as the club's attempt to secure the Championship title was followed by the end of season awards on Sunday and victory parade the following day.

Guedioura's parent club allowed him to attend all three and speaking at Monday's celebration in Cassiobury Park, he told the Watford Observer: "I’m so glad I could be here and it has been so enjoyable. It is magnificent. I didn’t expect there to be so many people and I’m so happy we could reward them with this promotion. I’m so happy."

He then added: "I thank (Palace chairman) Steve Parish and (manager) Alan Pardew because they gave me the opportunity to enjoy this moment with the lads. It has been really nice and now I’m going back there in a good mood and hopefully I can bring this [happiness] to Palace as well."

The end of Guedioura's first loan spell at Vicarage Road coincided with the appointment of Pardew at Palace and the 29-year-old was named in five of the nine Palace squads before the Londoners finally allowed him to rejoin Watford.

Guedioura, who made 17 appearances for Watford, scoring three goals, was set to return to training on Tuesday and had not yet been told if he would be involved in the Eagles' final three matches.

The all-action midfielder was a huge hit at Vicarage Road and loved his time with Watford, who are expected to enquire about his availability this summer.

When asked if the Hornets had told him if they hoped to sign him permanently, Guedioura replied: "The thing is at the moment even if they did say something, regardless of whether I want that or not, it is difficult to say [anything] because I have to go back to Palace to see what happens. The transfer window is coming up but at the moment I am focused on the last month with Palace."
