The Daily Mirror are reporting Watford are interested bringing former Hornet Adrian Mariappa back to Vicarage Road.

The defender left the Golden Boys in 2012 to join Reading and spent one season with the Royals before moving on to current club Crystal Palace.

He made 27 for the appearances for the Eagles during the 2013/2014 campaign but has struggled for first-team opportunities this season and has played just 16 times in all competitions.

Mariappa is believed to be a handful of matches away from triggering another payment to former club Reading and gaining a significant salary hike, so Palace could be willing to let the Jamaican international depart this summer.

During his spell at Watford, Mariappa made 247 appearances for the club and scored four goals.
