On August 8 Watford kick off their Premier League season at Everton. Luton Town travel to Accrington Stanley on the same day. It is little wonder Hornets supporters have lauded that fact over their local rivals, something that appears to have made the Hatters mad.
During the 2015/2016 season the Golden Boys’ supporters will be putting the addresses of Anfield, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge into their sat navs.
Conversely, Luton’s fans will be heading to the likes of Hartlepool, Plymouth Argyle and Morecambe.
Unsurprisingly, several Watford supporters were keen to point that out to their Bedfordshire counterparts which resulted in an prickly tweet from Luton’s official Twitter account.
It read: “Yes Watford fans. We know you're playing all these big teams etc. You got the dates for when the Coppa Italia starts?”

While that is clearly a little dig at the Hornets’ Italian owner Gino Pozzo, we are a helpful bunch here at the Watford Observer so - for the record - the Coppa Italia next season begins on August 2.
