Watford may no longer be playing Championship football but they will be facing a second tier side in pre-season with a friendly against Cardiff City.
The Hornets will travel to Cardiff City Stadium to face Russell Slade’s side on Tuesday, July 28 for a 7.45pm kick off.
The Bluebirds became the fourth successive side to beat Watford when they won 1-0 at Vicarage Road at the end of November, but then head coach Slavisa Jokanovic's men avenged that reverse with a 4-2 away success only a month later.
This game is the sixth pre-season friendly to be confirmed by Watford and comes a day after it was announced Quique Sanchez Flores' side will take on Europa League winners Sevilla at Vicarage Road on Saturday, August 1 a week before their Premier League campaign gets underway at Everton.
The Golden Boys' other confirmed friendlies are at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, July 11 before they play three games in Germany - against SC Verl (Wednesday, July 15), Eintracht Braunschweig (Friday, July 17) and SC Paderborn 07 (Sunday, July 19).
