The Watford Observer understands Hebei China Fortune approached the Hornets regarding a £10 million move for striker Odion Ighalo, however, a bid was not lodged by the Chinese club.

The Nigerian international arrived at Vicarage Road last summer from Udinese - initially on loan before making a permanent switch - and went on to score 20 times during his debut campaign in English football.

That form prompted an enquiry from Hebei and the Chinese side were reportedly ready to offer Ighalo a four-year contract worth £12 million.

However, despite the Golden Boys receiving no official offer, Ighalo’s representative Atta Aneke says the 26-year-old has turned down a move to the Far East.

“We had to turn down the offer, it’s not the right thing for him now,” said Atta Aneke to allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Odion has worked so hard to get into the the Premier League and he wants to seize the opportunity. For sure, he will remain in the Premier League.

“He was offered a four-year contract but sometimes it’s not about the money.”
