The Hornets have ended their interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Benjamin Stambouli, the Watford Observer understands.

The Golden Boys had an offer accepted by Spurs for the 24-year-old over a week ago and were confident of completing his signing over the weekend.

However, late interest from French giants Paris Saint-Germain meant Stambouli had second thoughts on switching to Vicarage Road.

Reports in France this morning state Tottenham turned down PSG’s bid and Watford were again in pole position to sign the midfielder.

But we understand the Hornets have been put off by Stambouli’s hesitancy and are no longer attempting to complete a deal for the former France under-21 international.
