Former Watford target Benjamin Stambouli has joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hornets were keen to bring the midfielder to Vicarage Road at the start of this month and had a bid accepted by Spurs.
Watford were very confident of agreeing a deal for the 24-year-old but the Parisians made a late bid and Stambouli’s head was turned.
Reports stated last week that PSG’s offer had been turned down and that the Golden Boys were back in pole position to sign the former Montpellier man.
However, his hesitancy to join Watford had put the Hornets off and the club ended their interest, paving the way for Stambouli to move to Paris.
That deal was completed this morning and while Stambouli is unlikely to be a regular starter in the PSG side, the club are backed by wealthy owners and will be competing in the Champions League this season.
