Watford have completed the signing of Miguel Britos from Napoli. The centre-back has signed a three-year deal with the Hornets.

We reported yesterday that the Golden Boys had sealed the Uruguayan's signature but it was unclear as to whether Watford would sign the 30-year-old permanently or whether fellow Pozzo-owned club Udinese would buy the defender from Napoli and then send him on loan to Vicarage Road

But the Hornets have announced Britos has joined them on a contract that runs until the summer of 2018. He becomes the club's eighth official summer signing.

Britos’ departure from Napoli was dependant on the southern Italian club sealing the signing of midfielder Allan from Udinese. That move went through yesterday morning and paved the way for the centre-back to switch to Vicarage Road.

Britos began his career in his native Uruguay before moving to Bologna from Wanderers in 2008 for €4m.

He then joined Napoli in 2011 for a fee of €9m, helping them to Coppa Italia triumphs in 2012 and 2014 and a second place finish in Serie A in 2013.

The Watford Observer understands the Hornets have also clinched the signing of Jose Manuel Jurado from Spartak Moscow, are in discussions with AZ Alkmaar winger Steven Berghuis over a move and remain interested in bringing Lex Immers to the club from Feyenoord.
