If you want an honest opinion on a Spanish head coach then who better to ask than a Spanish player – especially if that player is as talented as Denis Suarez.

The 21-year-old is a name few supporters in England are likely to have heard of despite the attacking midfielder making a handful off appearances for Manchester City during a two-year stint at the Etihad.

But he is a player English supporters are likely to know a lot more about in the coming years. After leaving the Sky Blues last summer he rejoined Barcelona, the club he left for Manchester City in 2011. The Catalans rarely give second chances which says all it needs do about Suarez.

After one year in their B side, Barca sent Suarez on loan to Sevilla for two seasons and he shone during the 2014/2015 campaign.

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique wanted to recall the Spanish Under-21 international this summer but the club were unable to under the rules of their transfer ban.

So Suarez remained with Sevilla and that is how he ended up in Watford on a Friday night. He started the Red and Whites' 1-0 pre-season friendly victory over the Hornets at Vicarage Road last week.

Unsurprisingly, he impressed. One pirouette to escape two Hornets defenders particularly caught the eye.

There is little doubt Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores would love a player like Suarez in his side. Any head coach would.

But what is the man charged with keeping Watford in the Premier League thought of in his native Spain? Suarez was asked that very question by the media after Friday’s friendly.

“For English football it will be very good to have somebody like Quique Sanchez Flores here and in the Premier League,” he said.

“In Spain he is known as a good coach. It is good for the Premier League that they have a Spanish coach and I hope Watford stay in the Premier League.”

Suarez, who knows Watford winger Ikechi Anya from a spell at Celta Vigo, believes Flores is more than capable of keeping the Hornets in the top flight this season and added: “He (Flores) has managed Valencia and Atletico Madrid and both those sides did very well. I think Watford will have a good season.”
