Sean Murray’s loan spell with Wigan Athletic has been extended until January 16.
The Hornets midfielder initially joined the League One club on a 28-day loan on August 5 to allow him to improve his match fitness and continue his recovery from six months out through injury.
The 21-year-old has so far made five substitute appearances for the Latics and manager Gary Caldwell told the club website: “The competition for places, especially in midfield, is getting really high now, and Sean’s next target is to earn a starting place.
“He has impressed everyone at the club so far with his attitude and he has done well. We are delighted to keep him here for another three months.”
Murray’s initial loan period had been due to expire this week.
