Newcastle United could be without seven players for Saturday’s game against Quique Sanchez Flores’ Watford.

The Magpies were comfortably beaten 2-0 by West Ham United on Monday night and sit bottom of the Premier League with just two points from five games. Steve McClaren’s side have also netted just twice in the top flight this season.

Their woes in front of goal haven’t been helped by summer signing Aleksandar Mitrovic’s three-game suspension.

The striker, who was sent off for violent conduct against Arsenal, will be absent on Saturday for the Hornets’ visit to St James’ Park.

Sylvain Marveaux, Paul Dummett and Emmanuel Riviere are long-term absentees for Newcastle due to injury while Cheick Tiote, Steven Taylor and former Hornet Mike Williamson are also doubts.

Those six players were all absent from the Magpies loss at West Ham and McClaren was asked after the defeat if they were likely to return against the Golden Boys.

He told the The Shields Gazette: "No, we have what we’ve got and we’ve got damn good players. We just didn’t do the basics (against West Ham).”

Meanwhile, Watford will be without the services of Valon Behrami and Miguel Britos this weekend as both are suspended.

There will be further Watford team news uploaded tomorrow afternoon after Flores’ pre-match press conference.
