Watford have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match with Crystal Palace and Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores says that is down to the club’s excellent medical team.

Bar the suspended Valon Behrami and long-term absentee Joel Ekstrand – who is continuing his recovery from a knee ligament injury – the Spaniard has a full squad to choose from for the clash against the Eagles.

“We do not have any new injuries this week,” Flores said yesterday. “We are training well and the full squad is ready.

“The medical team are excellent, they are working very hard to prevent injuries. Every day before training we discuss our plan for every player. The injury prevention at this club is really good.”

Having a fully-fit squad does cause selection headaches for Flores. Watford’s boss has more than 25 players to choose from and inevitably several players will be watching from the side-lines on a match day.

However, Flores says he wouldn’t have it any other way. “I prefer to work with the full squad because it allows us to choose the players we believe are best-suited for the next match,” he explained.

“All the players want to be on the squad list for the match so they push hard in order to play.”

First-team squad members Miguel Britos, Victor Ibarbo and Obbi Oulare all played for the Hornets’ Under-21 side against Huddersfield Town yesterday.

But Flores stressed that didn’t mean the trio will not feature against Palace.

“All three of them need to play and must have a good feeling,” he said. “They are in the process of learning the club, learning the Premier League and getting to know their teammates.

“We are passionate about these players but it is important they have a good feeling here at Watford.”
