Manchester United winger Ashley Young says he is looking forward to returning to Watford on Saturday for the first time since leaving the club in 2007.

Young began his career at Vicarage Road. He joined the Hornets at ten-years-old and made his debut for the club at the age of 18 in 2003, scoring in a 3-1 win over Millwall.

The now 30-year-old would go on to establish himself as a first-team regular over the next two season.

During the 2005/2006 campaign Young scored 15 goals as Watford secured promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.

He would go on to impress in the top flight the following season and earned a big money move to Aston Villa in January 2007.

Young spent four and a half years at Villa Park before switching to Manchester United in the summer of 2011 for £17 million.

Despite a testing four years at Old Trafford Young has established himself as a key member of the first team squad under Louis van Gaal this season.

The Red Devils travel to Vicarage Road on Saturday to take on Quique Sanchez Flores’ Hornets and Young is excited to return to the place that it all began.

"I’m really looking forward to going back. It’s the club where I started and learnt my trade.Hopefully, it’ll be a nice reception... a better one than I get at Aston Villa anyway," he joked, in an interview with ManUtd.com.

"There will be quite a lot of my family going to the game, so it’ll be nice to go back.

"I started at Watford when I was 10 and left at 21, so I was there for a long time. It set me up and helped me get to where I am today and I thank everyone who was there at the time who I worked with."
