There will be added security at this weekend's Watford FC game after the Paris massacres.

The Hornets will take on Manchester United a week after the terror attacks in Paris, which targeted the Stade de France.

Premier League officials have been liaising with police and the government over games due to take place this weekend.

Hannah Georgiou said on behalf of Hertfordshire Constabular: “We’d reassure people that there has been no specific intelligence to suggest that the safety of those attending the match on Saturday will be compromised.

"However, to help people feel safe and for added reassurance, extra police resources will be in place on the day.

“Watford Football Club will have additional security measures in place, which will take the form of extra searches when supporters enter the ground.

“Whilst these extra measures are being put in place, I would reiterate that supporters can expect to attend a safe and enjoyable event on Saturday.”

The majority of the 129 people killed in the terrorist strikes in the French capital on Friday night died when gunmen opened fire during a crowded rock show at the Bataclan concert hall.

A further 29 people were last night critically injured in hospital.

The death toll and list of casualties would almost certainly have been higher had suicide bombers gained entry to the Stade de France, where France President Francois Hollande was watching his country's friendly with Germany.

The French national anthem will be played before all Premier League games this weekend.
