Watford will complete a move for Fiorentina midfielder Mario Suarez tomorrow, subject to the Spanish international passing medical, the Watford Observer understands.

The Hornets have been close to agreeing a deal with the Serie A side for several days but it wasn't until today a transfer was struck.

There was concern among Golden Boys supporters that late interest from Valencia could scupper Watford’s move but we understand that interest was overstated by the Spanish media.

Watford always remained confident they would sign the 28-year-old.

Suarez only joined Fiorentina in the summer but failed to establish himself in the first team, making only eight starts in all competitions this season.

Suarez is keen to leave the Italian club as he holds hopes of making the Spain squad for Euro 2016.

However, he was keen to make the right move with his wife, Malena Costa, expecting their child later this year.
