Lloyd Dyer is able to seek a move to another club after having the remainder of his contract at Vicarage Road cancelled, the Watford Observer understands.

Having failed to secure a move elsewhere in the summer, the 32-year-old had been expected to leave Vicarage Road in this window but is now free to determine his own future.

Along with Essaid Belkalem, Quique Sanchez Flores said last month that he hoped the Hornets would be able to find new clubs for the pair, who have not seen a minute of first-team action this season.

“We want the best for the players and every player is happy when they are playing. So it is necessary for them (to find new clubs),” Flores said.

“If not they will stay and the behaviour of these players is amazing. But Dyer and Belkalem deserve to play and hopefully they find a team where they can play.

“We respect every player, even the ones that are not playing. When we keep players in the squad, even if we know they won’t play, it is because they are good people and we can work with them.”

Having signed on a free transfer from Leicester City in the summer of 2014, Dyer made a total of only six starts for the Hornets in all competitions, plus a further ten substitute appearances.
