Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores is adamant news of John Terry's Chelsea exit won’t distract the Blues captain when he leads his side out at Vicarage Road this evening.

The 35-year-old centre-back looks set to end a glittering career at Stamford Bridge at the end of the current campaign after it was announced on Monday he hadn’t been offered a contract for next season.

Terry is Chelsea’s longest serving player and has been with the west Londoners since 1995, making 690 appearances for the club in that time.

In that time he has won four Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Europa League.

But that will all end when his contract runs out this summer. Tonight’s meeting at Vicarage Road is the first game since the news broke.

Not that Flores expects it to have a bearing on the game.

“No [it won’t be a distraction] because Terry is a very good professional,” said the Spaniard.

“It’s impossible for Terry to make a distraction,” he continued. “I admire Terry because I’ve played a lot with other teams against Terry.

“I admire this kind of professional who spends a lot of time playing in the Premier League a lot because I admire the Premier League.

“Terry, until the last moment, will play at the maximum level for Chelsea. This kind of player is an amazing player – not just on the pitch but because he has amazing mentality.”
