Quique Sanchez Flores insists he is calm about his future but admits it is necessary the people at Watford share the same values of their work.

A national newspaper story this morning suggested the Watford head coach could face the sack this summer after the team's downturn in form in the Premier League during the second half of the season.

Despite taking the Hornets to 41 points in the top flight and an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday there remains speculation over his future.

Flores, who is in the first season of his two-year contract, said: “I don’t know why this is in the newspapers. I’m happy and it’s an amazing time here. We have 41 points with four games to go and in a very comfortable position.

"We didn’t suffer anything. We are in the semi-final of the FA Cup. But my future does not depend on one thing.

“I’m happy with the squad and happy with the fans but it is very important how the people in the club value our work. It is necessary not just [for me to] feel this but [for them] to value the work."

The Spaniard, whose side lost 3-1 at West Ham United, added: “I appreciate what we’re doing as a team keeping them in the Premier League and reaching the semi-final of the FA Cup. It is necessary that people around me appreciate it the same and don’t have different views. But I’m completely calm about the future."
