Quique Sanchez Flores believes Nordin Amrabat was harshly sent off at the end of their 3-1 defeat to West Ham United last night.
Amrabat will miss Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace after the attacker received a second yellow card from referee Mike Dean in injury time for a foul on Winston Reid.
The Watford head coach said: “Maybe the referee didn’t calculate the impact of the second yellow card very well with two minutes to go. I think it’s a normal kick and not a special kick so the impact [of the sending off] is massive.
“I think it’s too much [to give] a second yellow card for this action. Nothing happened in this moment and there were two minutes to go."
Flores added: "Sometimes it’s impossible to know if the referee has in his mind that Amrabat has one yellow card.
"It’s difficult to calculate everything but I think it is not enough [foul] for two yellow cards."
