Watford paid the fifth lowest amount to intermediaries and agents in the Premier League between October 1, 2015 and February 1, 2016, according to figures published by the FA today.

The Hornets paid a net total of £782,494 for the specified four-month period to agents out of an overall net total of £46,582,843 spent by the 20 Premier League clubs.

The FA are required to publish the figures under FIFA’s Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, introduced on April 1, 2015, and they show all agents fees paid by clubs during the four month period via the FA’s clearing account and also payments made by clubs on behalf of players.

The four clubs to spend less than Watford on agents’ fees from October 1 to February 1 were Everton (£471,400), Swansea City (£491,000), Newcastle United (£538,107) and Sunderland (£733,894).

The two other promoted clubs – Bournemouth (£1,451,647) and Norwich City (£1,183,890) – both spent in excess of £1 million, but all these clubs are dwarfed by Manchester United, who spent £10,023,318 on agents' fees in the specified period. The next largest was Liverpool on £6,672,713.

The figures were published on The FA’s website and readers are asked to note: “Payments included in these figures may not have been made in respect of transactions entered into prior to 1 April 2015.

“The total payment figure per club will, therefore, not necessarily relate directly to those transactions listed involved a registered intermediary which were entered into between 1 April 2015 and 1 February 2016.”
