Watford captain Troy Deeney insists the club should not worry about learning from champions Leicester City and must keep their own identity.

The Foxes clinched their astonishing Premier League title triumph this week and will be viewed as the benchmark for other clubs to aspire towards following their unprecedented achievement.

But Deeney is adamant Watford should be focusing on keeping the specific qualities which helped take the club to safety and an FA Cup semi-final following last season's promotion.

Deeney said: “You can’t learn anything off Leicester because that’s Leicester and this is Watford.

"You try to emulate somebody and you’ll get found out because it’s not the same people and not the same structure.

"We look at what they’ve done on the field and [may try to] emulate the amount of miles they ran and things like that. But we don’t play the same style of football so it’s very difficult to say we’re going to learn off them because you’d be changing what’s good about us. You’ve got to keep your own identity."
