Watford are understood to be close to agreeing a fee with Juventus for attacking midfielder Roberto Pereyra.

New Hornets head coach Walter Mazzarri is believed to have set his sights on bringing the Argentine to Vicarage Road.

The Serie A champions this week signed Bosnia-Herzegovina midfielder Miralem Pjanic for £25.4m and are ready to recoup some of this back by selling Pereyra.

According to an Italian source, Watford are close to agreeing a fee for the versatile midfielder with Juventus wanting €15m.

Pereyra joined the club last summer from Udinese in a €14m four-year deal.

But he suffered an injury disrupted season and only made 16 appearances for the club.

The 25-year-old is comfortable playing in a number of different roles right across the midfield and his adaptability would be a valuable asset for Mazzarri.

Pereyra has attracted the interest of West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Zenit St Petersburg this summer but the Hornets are believed to be leading the race for him.
