Valon Behrami has helped Switzerland reach the knockout stages of the European Championships after holding hosts France to a goalless draw in Lille tonight.

The Hornets midfielder, who has been on the pitch for every minute of the group games, again played a defensive anchor role as the Swiss got the point they needed to finish runners-up in Group A.

Switzerland will now meet the runners-up from Group C at 2pm on Saturday in the last 16. That position is currently occupied by Poland ahead of the last matches in that section of the tournament on Tuesday.

Costel Pantilimon’s involvement in Euro 2016 is over though, after Romania were beaten 1-0 by Albania and finished bottom of Group A with one point from their three fixtures.

The Hornets goalkeeper did not get the opportunity to add to his 22 international caps in France having been an unused substitute for the three group matches.
