Joel Ekstrand is closing in on a move to Leeds United, according to reports from Sweden.

The 27-year-old centre-half, who is a free agent after being released by Watford when his contract expired last month, has been linked with a handful of Championship clubs and had previously been understood to have held talks with Bristol City.

However, it is being reported Ekstrand has decided to join the Elland Road side and the move is expected to be confirmed this week.

The defender spent four years at Vicarage Road and made 101 appearances in all competitions, but he did not feature for the first team in the 2015/16 season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury against Ipswich Town in March 2015.
