Walter Mazzarri admits he was frustrated at his side's mistakes which resulted in their home defeat to Chelsea.
Watford were leading 1-0 heading into the last ten minutes at Vicarage Road.
But a mistake from Heurelho Gomes led to the Blues' equaliser and a misplaced pass by Adlene Guedioura enabled Antonio Conte's side to break away and snatch a late winner.
Head coach Mazzarri said: "As we say in Italy we complicated our lives by ourselves. Both the goals, as you can see, were our mistakes. We were not focused on both of those plays.
"We have to improve in playing the ball better and keep it better especially because in those occasions we had the opportunity to play in a simple way."
The Italian added: “Like I said before, unfortunately I would have preferred to concede two goals by great play from these great players instead of through our own mistakes."
Mazzarri's first competitive defeat in charge of the Hornets leaves them with one point from two games with Arsenal their next opponents in the league at Vicarage Road next weekend.
