After the dismal showing of five days before, yesterday's 2-2 draw with Bournemouth restored a bit of pride for the Watford faithful.

After getting the better of the opening stages it looked as though it could be a case of deja vu for Walter Mazzarri's side, as the Cherries took hold of the game before half-time  and deservedly led through Callum Wilson's header.

An equaliser from captain Troy Deeney - now one away from his Watford tonne - levelled the scores five minutes after the break, before Josh King's first involvement in the game undid all their good work, and he found the back of the net via Younes Kaboul's knee.

But a mad 15 minutes of goals was capped when Isaac Success headed beyond Artur Boruc to restore parity. And despite the woodwork being struck three times by the Cherries, Watford hung on for a deserved point.

Here's how the Hornets rated in that draw:

Heurelho Gomes - 6
Allowed the ball to squirm underneath him for Bournemouth's opener, but made some decent catches under pressure and could do little with the deflected second.

Watford Observer:

Zuniga had a quieter day than his previous outing at Vicarage Road.

Camilo Zuniga - 6
Making his first home appearance in his more traditional position of right-back, was fairly tidy if unspectacular. Should have been more alert when Jack Wilshere was given a free run to strike the post late on, but kept Jordan Ibe fairly quiet before he was removed.

Younes Kaboul - 6
Caught in no man's land between cross deliverer and receiver for Bournemouth's opener, but improved after the break. Unlucky with Josh King's second.

Sebastian Prodl - 6
Few half-decent efforts going forward, but given a tough time by Callum Wilson at the back. Booked in bizarre circumstances in the first half when penalised for a handball after seemingly being knocked to the ground.

Watford Observer:

Jose Holebas was far from perfect defensively but put in some good deliveries.

Jose Holebas - 6
Some very good deliveries, including a perfect ball for Isaac Success to grab Watford's second. Left exposed on the left at times and was sometimes caught out of position. A few crucial blocks, but his poor touch led to the second goal.

Nordin Amrabat - 7
Always willing, but his final ball was lacking before the break. Hadn't beaten a man all day before doing brilliantly to set up the opener, and improved a lot in the second half.

Roberto Pereyra - 6
Lively in the first period but faded after the break. Another needless booking given away for a lazy challenge, but has a good engine to get up and down the pitch.

Watford Observer:

Behrami found Wilshere a tricky customer at times.
Valon Behrami - 5
Not his normal self, seemed a bit off the pace at times; highlighted most plainly by a half-hearted challenge before King's goal, and another before Wilshere struck the post.

Etienne Capoue - 6
Some good Hollywood balls but not in his natural position, as sometimes stranded on the left and often ineffectual, especially after the break.

Troy Deeney - 7
Held the ball well and his goal was richly deserved despite his lack of service. Will always be a presence and is looking close to being back to his best. Won't be long before goal number 100 is incoming.

Odion Ighalo - 6
Industrious but looked somewhat unsure of his shooting after his first-minute miss. Made a good chance for Nordin Amrabat before he was replaced shortly after the break.

Substitutes

Watford Observer:

Success richly deserved his first goal in Watford colours.

Isaac Success (for Ighalo, 58) - 8
A typically energetic performance, at last capped by a goal. Unfortunate to see his defensive work questioned by Mazzarri after the game; he certianly did enough going forwards.

Adlene Guedioura (for Capoue, 79) - N/A
