Watford striker Isaac Success looked to be having the perfect week after netting his first Hornets goal and receiving his first international call-up – but now injury has cut short the 20-year-old's hopes of making his Nigeria debut.
Success' second-half header secured a point against Bournemouth on Saturday days after he had been named in the Super Eagles' squad, but now it appears an injury picked up in the draw.
He has featured at both Under-17 and Under-20 level for Nigeria, and scored twice in the group stages of the Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand last year, against Brazil and North Korea.
The Super Eagles will take on Zambia on Sunday as they begin the group stage of qualification for World Cup 2018.
Odion Ighalo has also been ommitted from the squad, so he can visit the burial site of his father over the international weekend.
